Husband Named Person of Interest as Search Continues for Missing Indiana Mother Last Seen in Georgia

Authorities in Georgia and Indiana have named the husband of a missing 31-year-old Indiana mother as a person of interest in her disappearance. Police in Georgia are assisting in the search because her family says she was last seen in the metro Atlanta area.

Xavier Breland Jr., 37, was arrested Wednesday on an unrelated warrant from Coweta County, Georgia. He is being held in the Hamilton County jail in Indiana while he awaits extradition to Georgia. Investigators have not said what charges the warrant lists.

According to the official missing person's report, Ciera (Locklair) Breland was last seen around 10 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the Brookstone Park of Carmel subdivision in Carmel, Indiana, just north of Indianapolis. The report was filed with the Carmel Police Department over the weekend.

The report states that she said she was going to the store and was wearing a black top and purple shorts. The FOX 5 Storm Team said temperatures in Carmel that night were in the mid- to upper-20s. Family members said police told them she never arrived at the store and that no surveillance video shows her going in.

Relatives also said she left behind her cell phones, her credit cards and her son, who is only a few months old.

Her father last saw her on Feb. 20 in Georgia, before she returned to Johns Creek with her husband, family members said. They added that they never saw her come back to Indiana.

The Johns Creek Police Department issued a statement Tuesday asking for the public's help in finding her. On Wednesday, it put out a joint release with the Carmel Police Department naming her husband as a person of interest.

"This continues to be an active investigation, and this is the only information that will be released at this time. As the investigation continues, more information will be released as it becomes available," the release said.

Police describe Ciera Breland as 5 feet tall, about 120 pounds, with blonde hair.

Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911, or to contact Corporal Rozier of the Johns Creek Police Department at 678-372-8046 or the Carmel Police Department at (317) 571-2580.
